SPC and LVT are both vinyl-flooring categories, but they are not the same installation system. Rigid-core click SPC uses interlocking planks, while glue-down LVT depends on a prepared substrate and suitable adhesive. The best choice depends on the room and installer capability.
SPC click: rigid and modular
Titan SPC is a 6mm rigid-core click product with a 0.5mm wear layer and 1mm IXPE backing. It is advertised at R389/m². The click construction may be convenient for certain projects, but it still requires the substrate to meet the product’s technical tolerances.
Glue-down LVT: substrate is visible in the finish
Thin glued vinyl closely follows the profile of the subfloor. Bumps, cracks and uneven patches can telegraph through the installed finish. Moisture testing, smoothing and compatible adhesive are central to the job, so a low material price does not guarantee a cheap finished floor.
Water and movement require system thinking
A waterproof SPC core is not an excuse to ignore water under the flooring. Glue-down LVT has its own adhesive moisture limitations. Ask the installer which system is suitable for your slab, traffic and site environment.
Price the entire installation
A fair comparison includes the actual vinyl product, floor preparation, adhesive where relevant, trims, transport and labour. FlooringXpress can quote materials; the installer should quote preparation and fitting. Ask for current LVT availability rather than assuming it shares SPC pricing.
SPC and LVT are not interchangeable fitting systems
SPC click vinyl is ordinarily installed as an approved floating system with the required movement clearances. Glue-down LVT bonds to a properly prepared substrate using a compatible adhesive. Neither category automatically fixes existing water ingress, cracks, unevenness or damp.
For a home renovation, ask the fitter about floor height, uneven tile joints, whether doors need trimming, underfloor heating compatibility, the location of heavy fixtures and the total installed cost. For an office or commercial job, ask about traffic, furniture loading and maintenance.
The product's total thickness and wear-layer thickness measure different things. Confirm the range's wear-layer specification and warranty instead of assuming a thicker overall board is always a better product.
How this compares with 8 mm wide-plank laminate
Titan Classic and Titan Elite laminate offer a 240 mm timber-look plank, wax-treated click/V-groove details and AC3 or AC4 abrasion ratings. Selected laminate finishes have EIR-style wood-grain texture. They are water-resistant to limited surface spills, not waterproof; Titan SPC has a waterproof core. Choose by room conditions, overall material-and-fitting cost and the independent installer’s recommendations.
Click SPC and glue-down LVT have different failure modes
A click SPC floor depends on correctly prepared flatness, movement allowances and locking joints. Glue-down LVT depends especially on substrate preparation, compatible adhesive and controlled moisture.
Ask your fitter which system is better for the actual room and expected future maintenance rather than relying on generic “vinyl” labelling.
Product comparison: what is actually different?
| Product | Construction | Primary consideration | Advertised material price* |
|---|---|---|---|
| Titan Classic AC3 | 8 mm laminate, 240 mm boards | Ordinary dry residential rooms | R204/m² |
| Titan Elite AC4 | 8 mm laminate, 240 mm boards | Higher abrasion classification for busier dry rooms | R214/m² |
| Titan SPC click vinyl | 6 mm total, 0.5 mm wear, attached IXPE | Waterproof core; suitable fitting conditions still required | R389/m² |

Questions buyers ask
Which is easier for uneven subfloors?
Neither should be laid over an unsuitable substrate. Glue-down LVT often makes surface imperfections especially visible, while SPC also has flatness requirements.
Does FlooringXpress install either product?
FlooringXpress supplies materials and may suggest independent installers; installation is arranged separately.
Can FlooringXpress recommend a reliable installer?
Ask our team about independent professional flooring installers, including experienced fitters with 10+ years of installation experience, subject to your area and current availability. Installation labour, site assessment, fitting dates and workmanship terms are agreed directly with the installer; FlooringXpress supplies the flooring materials.
