Choose high-quality 8 mm laminate with a 240 mm wide-plank look, AC3 or AC4 wear classification, wax-treated V-groove/click details and selected EIR wood-textured designs. Wax treatment helps resist everyday surface spills when cleaned promptly; laminate is water-resistant, not waterproof. Ask about reliable independent professional floor installers with 10+ years’ experience, available by referral in selected areas. FlooringXpress supplies the material; labour and workmanship are quoted separately by the installer.

Ordering too few boxes can delay a flooring project, while ordering too many can leave unnecessary material. The right starting point is an accurate room measurement, then a sensible allowance for cutting, room shape and whole-box quantities. A qualified installer should approve the final order.

Measure simple rooms

For a rectangle, multiply the room length in metres by its width in metres. A room 5m long and 4m wide measures 20m². For an L-shaped layout, split the space into rectangles and add the results. Record each room separately so transitions are not overlooked.

Allow for waste intelligently

A common rough allowance is 5–10% for straight installations, but more may be required in irregular spaces or with certain laying directions. The installer should account for cutting patterns, damaged boards and the likelihood of future repairs. Do not treat the allowance as a universal manufacturer instruction.

Round up to complete packs

Each laminate product has its own pack coverage. Divide your required coverage by the pack size and round up to a whole number of boxes. Do not mix pack sizes or assume another colour has identical box coverage without checking.

Share the measurements on WhatsApp

Send your room sketch, measured m², suburb and chosen Titan product. The sales team can advise on current carton coverage, delivery and any underlay or profile requirements, while your installer confirms the technical quantity.

A measurement example buyers can repeat

Start with the true floor footprint, not the house's advertised floor area. If the living room is 5.4 m by 4.1 m, the basic area is 22.14 m². A provisional 7% cutting allowance gives approximately 23.69 m². The supplier will then round this up to full boxes, which may make the purchased quantity larger than the calculation.

Measure connected passages, alcoves and cupboards separately and add them. Do not subtract furniture. Flag diagonal layouts, narrow corridors, staircases and patterns because their cuts may increase wastage beyond a simple standard allowance. Your installer should confirm the final order before payment.

For a quote, send a rough sketch with dimensions, selected flooring and suburb. Keep 5–10% as an initial budgeting guide—not a guarantee—and request the exact box coverage for your specific product.

Why the premium 8 mm specification matters to a price quote

Compare like for like: Titan Classic AC3 or Elite AC4, 8 mm thickness, 240 mm plank width, wax-treated grooves and the confirmed surface finish. EIR describes a register-aligned wood-grain texture on selected designs, not a separate durability rating. Add full-box quantity, underlay where required, skirting, delivery and independent fitting before choosing the lowest advertised price.

Calculate rooms individually before combining totals

Create a line for each room with length × width in metres; add passages, recesses and door thresholds. For a straight 12 m² bedroom plus a 20 m² lounge the measured total is 32 m² before cuts. A 10% illustrative allowance gives 35.2 m², but whole-box rounding determines the purchased quantity.

Your installer should confirm actual wastage for direction, complicated corners and the chosen laying pattern.

Questions buyers ask

Do I include the area under cupboards?

It depends on the floor system and fixed-cabinet plan. Ask your installer how the floating floor should terminate.

Is 10% waste always enough?

No. Complex layouts can need more; the installer should assess the design and cutting requirements.

Can FlooringXpress recommend a reliable installer?

Ask our team about independent professional flooring installers, including experienced fitters with 10+ years of installation experience, subject to your area and current availability. Installation labour, site assessment, fitting dates and workmanship terms are agreed directly with the installer; FlooringXpress supplies the flooring materials.
